Sleeping Bear Dunes

Some photos I took while hiking Sleeping Bear Dunes with my dad. Just having moved back from Singapore after my mandatory military service, it was fantastic to be hike somewhere so scenic; although it was still a bit underwhelming compared to the elevation gain back in the Bay Area, CA.

  1. A lone walker on a narrow sand ridge between grassy dunes, with the turquoise shallows and deep blue of Lake Michigan filling the horizon.

  2. Looking up a steep dune face pocked with footprints, framed by green leaves, with dune grass along the crest against a cloudless sky.
    2/3The initial climb up the first dune was the steepest, emerging out of the vegetation
  3. A wide grassy dune bowl with a bare sand blowout in its middle, a wooded ridge along the top and a small pine growing in the foreground.
    3/3Clear blue skies above the dunes that reminded me of California
