Giraffe Fursuit Head

March 2025

Initially intended to be my first commission, I used the Kemono Style Head Base Pattern I created for my Etsy store as the base for this giraffe head. Unfortunately, the commissioner fell through on payment, but I was able to sell it on my Etsy store later on.

  1. A black foam head base on a mannequin, taped and glued at the seams. One eye socket is filled with a hand-drawn white eye on paper; the muzzle is blocked out in plain foam.
    1/11Building off the template head base, I added nostrils and filled seam gaps using clay foam
  2. A workbench with the black foam head base at the centre, its eye holes cut and a white stripe painted down the muzzle. Red and green furred ears sit either side, and clipped red fur pattern pieces lie in front of it.
    2/11I started by lining the inside of the head with foam padding to sit on the forehead and cheeks of the wearer, then applied minky fleece to the nostrils and horns; then patterned, sewed, & attached the ears after
  3. Red fur pattern pieces pinned together with colored sewing clips on a black desk, numbered in marker on the fabric backing. The unfinished foam head sits behind them.

  6. A black zip sewn into the edge of a piece of bright red fur, laid flat on a dark table.
